The TargetCancer Foundation invests in cutting edge "basic" cancer research. Based in Cambrige, MA with affiliations at leading hospitals and laborites, they are well positioned to fast-track advances through their collaborative approach with researchers.
Last month, I was speaking with my Uncle about non-profits worth supporting. He cites poor management and misappropriation of funds as reasons he's hesitant to give. In response, I argued that there are charities worth funding, yet I admit it's difficult to distinguish which do the most good with the funds available to them.
My experience leading the design effort for TargetCancer Foundation's new brand and website in 2014 gave me insight into how the organization enables groundbreaking research with a remarkably low budget. There are few non-profits as economically conscious and impactful thanks in large part to the organization's executive director, Jim Palma. If it weren't for their efforts, a clinical trial for the treatment of cholangiocarcinoma would not be ongoing at MGH.
If you'd like to join me to celebrate their remarkable achievements on November 19th at Fenway Park, I'll save you a seat.
